A family of eight has been displaced by a
fire outbreak which razed their residential apartment at Bomso in Kumasi,
Wednesday evening.
The timely intervention of residents saved
a visually impaired old woman and her grand-daughter, who were alone at home,
from being set ablaze.
Everything in the three-bedroom house has been
grounded to ashes.
Fire personnel officer later arrived to
prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring houses.
Officials are yet to ascertain actual cause
of the fire but residents and eyewitnesses attribute the incident to
fluctuations in electricity power supply.
The incident is the fourth to be recorded
in the Ashanti Regional capital within the past seven days.
Fire outbreak ravaged about 15 stores and
offices at Adum last Thursday, where property worth millions of cedis was lost.
A day after, the entire structure of a mechanic shop was razed down at Atonsu – at least one vehicle was completely burnt.
Yet another fire outbreak on Tuesday razed the studios of KFM, a Kumasi based radio station.
