Hotels in Kumasi fully booked ahead of Black Stars and Pharaohs encounter

Players in the hospitality business in Kumasi are making it good as the Ghana Black Stars play the Pharaohs of Egypt in the World Cup Qualifier on Tuesday.

Most hotel accommodation facilities in the centre of the city have full reservations for Monday night.

The proximity of the over 20 hotel facilities around the Baba Yara Stadium makes them the preferred accommodation choice for soccer fans arriving from parts of the country to watch the football match.

Luv News checks indicate most of the hotels have full reservations for Monday night.

“The place is fully booked”, says Frimpong Jonah, General Manager of Golden Gate Hotel. “From the hotel to the stadium is a walking distance, so many people prefer staying here”.

Bookings for double bed facilities are however available, though priority is given to customers paying in advance to access the rooms, which are going for between Gh₵100 and Gh₵200 per night.

Some hotels have also increased their rates but apparently in response to the recent utility price hikes.

One hotel which a couple of months ago charged Gh₵70 is now taking Gh₵110 for a single room accommodation. Some are however yet to adjust rates.

Facilities on the outskirts of the city are also hoping for an overflow of soccer fans to their benefit experienced during the last match with the Zambia.

Restaurant and other eatery joints in and around the stadium are expected to have a fair share of good sales on match day.
