She

Asafo suburbs of Kumasi who trooped to the premises of Grace Baptist Church to
receive the material blessings.
Rev.
Robert Asante, Head Pastor of the Grace Baptist Church, notes that churches have
the obligation to meet both the spiritual and financial needs of their congregation
and community to achieve a holistic ministry of the Gospel of Christ.
He
says the physical wellbeing of members is important to uplift them spiritually,
hence the Church’s resolve to embark on exercises geared towards affecting the
lives of people in the community.
“God
has demonstrated to humanity that the best life is the life that gives to lift
up other people to a higher level,” he stated in reference to the sacrificial death
of Christ for the salvation of humanity.
In
living the essence of the Easter season, the Grace Baptist Church organized a ‘Charity
Day’ event where endowed members of the Church shared all sort of materials
with the deprived in the church and the general community. Items included
clothing, household essentials and foodstuff.
Mrs.
Elizabeth Pokua Addai, Vice-Chair of the Church’s Welfare Committee, observed
the general economic challenges in the country affect the regular church
attendance of some members who are unable to afford material needs such as
clothing.
“This
exercise will help Christians who are in need to come to church to build their
faith and enhance their spiritual growth. This is also a community-based action
to reach out to the larger society,” she stated.
The
Grace Baptist Church has been offering educational grants and skills
development to members, regularly supporting payment of health insurance premium
and providing monthly allowance for the aged, infirmed and orphaned.
“One
of the objectives of this Church is to inch towards the first century church in
terms of the demonstration of love and showing compassion and sharing what we
have with other people,” stated Rev. Asante.
